Ilias Alami is the Founder of Baak Business Solutions. With nearly ten years of experience in fieldwork and managerial positions, Ilias is a well-versed expert on the ins and outs of Afghanistan's workforce ecosystem. During his years of work, Ilias has been part of creating several flourishing non and for-profit entities in Afghanistan. Ilias’s experience in nonprofit management such as ANGO and AJSC has allowed him to garner the skills to lead and develop niche interventions for social change programs. He has also extensively worked on project development and management with corporate clients, the likes of Kabul Municipality, The World Bank Group, USAID, among many others. He has created and spearheaded a multitude of successful ventures, such as Kabul Insider. He has devised a series of capacity, and team-building interventions on various topics ranging from professional skills to youth empowerment, from project cycle management to market strategy development for hundreds of young Afghans across the country. Ilias holds a Political Sciences & Public Administrations degree from the American University of Afghanistan. He was a recipient of Kennedy-Lugar Youth, Exchange & Study (YES) scholarship for a year of High School studies in Seattle, Washington, in 2009 -2010. He was the 2016 Seeds of Peace GATHER Fellow and alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) 2019.
Soraya Afzali is the Marketing and Communications Director of Baak. She brings almost a decade of hands-on experience in communication and research roles with national and international organizations in Afghanistan and abroad. Soraya holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management from the American University of Afghanistan and a masters degree in International Relations from Central European University. Soraya is a communications expert with a background of working for The World Bank Group, The American University of Afghanistan, Women for Afghan Women Organization and Afghanistan New Generation Organization. Soraya has also volunteered with organizations such as Solace for the Children, the American Councils for international education, Sarak-e-Awal and has co-founded Humans of Kabul in 2013 to tell stories of ordinary Afghans. Soraya has been part of different networks that focus on civil society empowerment as the likes of Open Society Foundation, Initiatives of Change-Caux Scholars Program, Switzerland and Le Ciel Foundation, Spain. She was the recipient of the YES (Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study) 2009-2010, US Embassy Scholarship for Afghan girls, Afghan Voices Citizen Journalism Fellowship- 2013 and Open Society Leadership Award.
Yasser Osmani is the Chief Technologist at Baak. With more than six years of hands-on experience in cyber solutions and web development, Yasser brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in providing cyber technical support to our clients. He has led and developed some of the most intriguing and highly complex web-based projects for national and international clients, among them are the development of UNESCO’s Cultural Development website and Afghan Journalists Safety Committee’s data mapping and access to information web portals. Yasser is uniquely talented in putting sophisticated design concepts into user-friendly web experiences. Yasser Osmani’s experience is topped with a degree in Computer Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Mohammad Aref Wardak, the loving father of two beautiful daughters, is the Business Development Manager of Baak. He brings more than 14 years of experience ranging from Operations Management and Finance to Human Resource Development and Taxation. Aref has worked across Afghanistan and has in-depth knowledge of the country. His experience matched with his Master’s degree in Business Administration gives Aref the par-edge excellence in providing business development solutions for clients. Aref is also one of the Founding members of Afghanistan-Indonesia Business Council, promoting joint trade and commerce between the two countries. Besides his professional background, Aref serves as the pro-bono Managing Director of Afghanistan Rugby Federation.
